Dear parents,
Welcome to the Spring term at Busy Bees, we hope the children will enjoy
a fun filled term and are ready to undertake a wide variety of fun and educational
activities.
We would like to say congratulations to Miss Naomi who had a healthy baby boy on
Sunday 17th January. They have named him Lucas Ray and to Miss Kelly who also had a healthy baby boy on Sunday 28th February, they have named him Finley George A.J
Miss Nicola is also pregnant and due in August.
We would like to welcome Miss Hayley and Miss Nikita who have recently joined our
team and are working in the Butterfly class.
We are always encouraging parents/carers to be involved with their child’s progress. It
is very important that we have strong links between home and school, you are more than welcome to look through your child’s folder at anytime to see how they are progressing,
By doing this you can also help to encourage their next steps for development by
recording evidence of how you have seen your child achieve a certain Early Learning Goal.
As always if any parents would like to come in and help with any of the activities we
would be delighted. Please sign up on the parent‘s volunteer rota in your child‘s class if
you are able to come in to help. Also if you have a hobby or a skill the children would
find interesting and you would like to give a demonstration, please see your child’s
classroom supervisor.

Busy Bees car park
During peak pick up and drop off periods - 8.50 - 9.45 am, 11.15 - 1.15pm and 3.00 - 3.50
the Busy Bees car park is only to be used for parents who have younger siblings to bring
in with them or for parents whose vehicle carries a disabled badge. All other parents
please use the car park next to the church. If you do use the Busy Bees car park please
do not park there for long periods of time. If you intend to stay for a swimming lesson
or to allow your child to play in the play area, please also use the car park next to the church.
We would like to mention a few safety points relating to the well being of your children.
1) If you wish for your child to go home with anyone else, please fill in a ‘parental
permission form’ which can be obtained from either your child’s classroom or Sharon
in the office. The nominated person must have a valid I.D.
2) Please ensure that doors and gates are closed securely behind you at ALL times
when entering and leaving the building.
3) We have tried to make our entrance and exit gate as safe as possible, but still many parents are letting their child climb on the gate and try and open it, for safety reasons please do not allow your child to do this, - or to run ahead of you in the car park.
4) Please do not leave children unattended in the car park. It goes without saying that
the possible consequences could be serious.
5) It is very important that you update your contact details every time they change so
that we have good communication in emergency situations. Please fill in the attached
sheet and hand it back to your child’s teacher so we can check we have the correct
details on your child’s file. Thank you
6) If you allow your child to use the climbing frame and other play equipment whilst they
are in your care please ensure YOU WATCH THEM CLOSELY AT ALL TIMES. It has
been observed that many parents are allowing their children free range of the equipment whist they are having conversations with other parents. It goes without saying that this could potentially be very dangerous and Busy Bees can not be held responsible for
children whist they are in your care.
7) Due to several children attending who have nut allergies, could we please ask you
carefully check your child does not bring any nuts or food with traces of nuts to school
with them. Could you also please ensure that if they have eaten nuts prior to coming to nursery, you wash their hands and face thoroughly before bringing them into their classroom.
Our sickness policy
Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell as it puts other group members
at risk of catching an infection. If your child is not well enough to participate in their
daily activities they should not attend school that day. If a child has had diarrhoea or sickness please do not send them to school for 24 hours since their last attack/symptom. If possible, a phone call is always appreciated if your child is absent
due to being unwell, so that we are aware of any illnesses going around.
If any parents or your friends/family shop in Sainsbury’s we are collecting
‘Active Kid’s Vouchers’.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped to raise money
for the Haiti appeal we managed to raise the fantastic amount of £1402.00
Chile Earthquake Appeal
On February 27th 2010, a massive earthquake struck Chile, killing more than 700 people
and causing major damage to infrastructure.
URGENT NEEDS
The government of Chile has requested international assistance for urgent needs.
From Monday 8th March - Friday 19th March Busy Bees will be selling homemade jams and marmalades for £2.00 per jar. The older children and The Kid’s Club will man the jam
stalls and for every jar sold £1.00 will go towards the appeal. We would really appreciate your support.
Not only are we helping the appeal in our own small way, but it is valuable lesson for the children. The children will see the images on the television and in newspapers at home and many pupils, even though they are very young display a great deal of compassion and care
for those who have been affected and we try to teach them to be kind and caring
towards people, even those we don’t know.
Makaton
Congratulations to Miss Leanne, Miss Ros, Miss Hayley, Miss Nicola, Miss Lorna, and
Miss Kylie who have undertaken and completed training and professional development
in MAKATON sign language. MAKATON is a unique language programme, using signs,
symbols, facial expressions and directionality which not only benefits the deaf
community, but can support children and adults with a variety of communication and
learning difficulties. Research has shown how young children can benefit from using
signing to support their learning , and that for many children an increase in self
confidence is noticed. We hope to use some of the signs in our classrooms at Busy Bees
and perhaps to learn a few songs and rhymes. If you would like to learn more about
this or would like to support your child at home please speak to your child’s classroom
supervisor.
SENco information
Lorna Barker MA DIP SW is our SENco -
(Special Educational Needs co-ordinator). If you have any concerns relating to your
child please speak to Lorna who will be happy to help you.
Suggestions box
We are always looking for ways to improve our service, if you have any suggestions on
ways in which we could do so please post them in the suggestion box in the main
reception area.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank al the kind parents who have helped
us in various ways over the past year, it has been greatly appreciated.
Thanks again
